In Their Own WordsStories From the People We've Helped

From life's biggest transitions to everyday financial decisions, here's how we've helped clients move forward with confidence.

Kevin & Marian B.

Career Change, Early Retirement, Health Event/ Elder Care, Tax Planning

We became part of the Cambridge Cape Cod Advisors family in 2012. I'd made a career change a few years earlier that wasn't working out the way I'd hoped, and decided the better path was to retire early at 57. Right around that time, we got the call that our advisor, who had counseled me on retiring, had passed away. He'd already put a succession plan in place with Greg — so that's who we turned to. Greg took up the ball and provided the advice and stability I needed during that time, and it meant the same disciplined, comprehensive Cambridge methodology carried straight through the transition, even as we were navigating a leap of our own at a genuinely hard moment. In the years since, that relationship with Greg has carried us through more than one of life's next chapters.

During our conversations back then, and to this day, Greg leaves no doubt that he genuinely cares about his clients. Greg and Anna have also worked with how we prefer to communicate — I have a strong preference for secure communications, and they've always been sensitive to that.

The second transition came years later, when my father had a medical scare and needed assisted living. We already had an estate plan and power of attorney in place, but the financial institution holding his accounts refused to execute the paperwork, even though everything was in order — it got messy, and we ended up needing a lawyer to get it resolved. Through it all, Greg was there — listening, offering guidance, and reassuring us it would all work out, even taking my call in the middle of a hurricane while he himself was working in Florida. In the end, we got my father settled into assisted living.

“Fantastic” is how we sum up the relationship — Greg's ability to listen and understand every situation, and to communicate with us in a way that respects how we prefer to do business. For us, that continuity is the point: plan proactively before life changes and have steady support once it does. It's the Cambridge methodology, and it works for us.

Years into retirement now, we're happy, our portfolio continues to grow, and the peace of mind has never wavered. The service level is great — it has met our expectations and then some. You can't predict when life will hit you with something, but the earlier you can plan proactively, the better. We have a real personal connection with Greg — he engenders a lot of trust.

Early Career, Raising a Family, Inheritance, Retirement Readiness, Tax Planning

I've been a client of Cambridge Cape Cod Advisors since 2001, when I was a young professional starting a family of my own and my grandfather passed. From the very beginning, Greg and the team engaged me as a person first, not just a client — they helped me make sense of everything happening in the moment, not only what was ahead.

Years later, my aunt passed away suddenly and shockingly, and I found myself completely overwhelmed handling her estate. Once again, the team was there for me — Anna especially was delightful, patient, and comforting, which is invaluable when you're dealing with something intimidating and scary. Greg connected us with a lawyer to get an updated will in place, and whenever I needed to make a timely decision, they were always responsive, guiding me to make the best decision.

What's made the relationship different, over more than two decades, is that Greg and the team don't just focus on the current moment or the future — they've helped me understand the past too, like why my dad or my aunt made the decisions they did, and what that means for what I should do next. They've taken the time to know my life and values and what's important to me — something you don't get from a transactional advisor relationship.

As difficult as it is to ask for help in a vulnerable moment, these are safe people — I never worried about trust, or whether they were trying to sell me something. Knowing there's a stable, thoughtful, knowledgeable team in your corner during a time of crisis means everything.

Now, we're heading into a new chapter together: with a public education pension of my own and my husband having none, we're sitting down this fall to figure out what retirement really looks like for us, given how much the landscape has changed. It's exactly the kind of complexity I trust this team to help me navigate — the same way they always have.

Divorce, Retirement Readiness, Relocation, Tax Planning

I've been a client of Cambridge Cape Cod Advisors since 2001. My divorce itself was amicable, but suddenly I was managing my own finances — my 401(k), and soon after, bonuses in the form of stock shares. I had no real idea what to invest in and needed someone who could guide me and help balance my portfolio, as well as do my taxes now. I also wanted an advisor who'd be around for the long haul, someone who could outlive me, and be there as I grew into retirement as a single woman. From the very first conversation, they made it simple: “Send me what information you have, and we'll make it work.”

What's stayed with me most is a moment with my niece, who is also my sole heir. I introduced her to Greg and Anna, and afterward she told me, “I don't know anyone else that hugs their financial advisor.” The conversation was so easy, it was like they'd known her all along. That's the kind of relationship this is.

Ten to fifteen years after I became a client, I moved back to the Midwest, where I'm originally from, to be closer to family and friends. When I moved back to the Midwest I sought out a local financial manager much like I did when looking for Greg.   I selected one that reviewed thoroughly my portfolio and his exact words to me were you are being managed very well, there is little if anything that I would change and they did not do taxes. Minnesota's taxes are higher than Massachusetts, so that was something I'd thought about going in too, but it turned out none of it mattered — Greg already had it handled. These days it's mostly phone calls, with an in-person visit whenever I'm back in Massachusetts seeing friends, but the relationship feels exactly the same. It confirmed I'd been loyal to the right person all along, and that's something I'm proud to brag about.

Over all these years, they've taken things that are personal to me and used them to guide me. They're responsive and reliable whenever I need them to be. During our meetings, Greg doesn't just talk about my net worth — he makes a point of telling me when I've reached a significant goal, which means more than the numbers alone ever could.

If you're weighing whether to get help through a transition like mine, my advice is simple: sit down with them, ask every question you have, and be open. You'll feel the confidence and comfort come through, and you'll get the honest truth. I'm proud to be a client, and they've been the most compassionate and confident business team I've ever worked with.

Bob & Cherie G.

Retirement Readiness, Inheritance, Tax Planning

We've been clients of Cambridge Cape Cod Advisors since 2014. I met Greg in the fall of 2013, after nearly forty years with the same company, as it was going through changes. I needed to understand my pension and healthcare benefits and how the timing of retirement would affect our future. At the time we were living in New Hampshire, and our biggest fear was running out of money. A close friend on the Cape had found CCCA after moving there and referred us. As we interviewed advisors, Greg was the only one who assured us we wouldn't have to go back to work.

He developed a plan based on our comfort level, and thirteen years later, we have more money than we did when we retired. In 2014, right after I transferred everything over to him, we went on vacation and the market took a turn. Greg proactively reached out to all his clients with a message that was calming and reassuring. He has that same steady way about him no matter what's going on. I consider him a friend, and we trust him.

The relationship has evolved as our life has changed. Greg has a good understanding of our lifestyle and expenses, and when those things shift, he adjusts with us. When it comes to dollars and cents and common sense, he's my voice of reason — reassuring, and easy to be around. Looking back at the last thirteen years with the team, I'd say this: he took someone who was naive and ultraconservative, and walked me through a financial journey, explaining everything along the way. By year two or three, I could let go completely and trust that he'd do right by us — and that if anything ever happened to me, Cherie would be in the best hands with Anna and Greg.

This year, Cherie's father passed away, and we came into a bit of an inheritance. We went straight to Greg for guidance on what to do with it, and we still revisit that plan every year — it's part of how we're able to travel the way we do now.

I wish I'd met him years earlier — I'd be even more financially stable today. It was hard for me to let go at first, but having tax planning built in eliminated so many of the complications I used to worry about. My advice to anyone weighing whether to get help through a transition like ours: you can trust Greg completely, as long as you're open and honest with him. And he's more than fair with his fees,  I value his opinion as much as I value his friendship.

Susan O.

Inheritance, Retirement Planning, Serious Illness, Tax Planning

We've been clients of Cambridge Cape Cod Advisors for 25 years. My husband Eddie is an artist — we bought a museum together and filled it with his artwork, something we kept for twenty years, and to this day he still does a daily self-portrait. Because a career like his comes with a financial picture that's pretty unique, we trusted a referral from a fellow artist who also taught, and who'd had the same experience working with Greg. That referral came right when we needed it most: I'd just been downsized from my job, we'd moved from Connecticut to be closer to family on the Cape, and within a few years my dad died and my mom went into assisted living. I inherited some money and was terrified about how I'd manage it and the taxes that came with it.

We both realized our financial picture was changing and that we needed real help. Greg gave us focus and a method for dealing with money. He put a roadmap in place and helped us choose our investments, reviewing them every six months or so — he only tinkers with them for steady, long-term growth. He took the time to understand our comfort with risk. When we wanted to put a will in place and the first resource helping us wasn't working out, Greg found us a new one. He's built a strong network of resources to help clients with whatever they need.

Eddie has had a series of serious unexpected and at times life-threatening health issues over the years. Through all of it, Greg and Anna have been there for us. They really understood where we were and helped steer the ship, so we didn't have to think about anything else. We knew Eddie was taken care of, and that has been completely reassuring. Anna especially is amazing — she's the kingpin. I call her often, and she's attentive, supportive, and a true friend.

My advice to anyone weighing whether to get help through something similar: call them, put your cards on the table, and talk face to face. It's about the continuity of working with Greg, and you need to see if it's a fit. He's a professional and has personal experience with some of the same transitions — he and his own parents went through it too — and that was reassuring to know.

I'm currently on a waiting list for a continuing care retirement community close to my family, in case something happens to Eddie. My daughters and Eddie are relieved we have that lined up, and Greg assured me I'm doing the right thing.

Early Career, Retirement Planning, Raising a Family, Divorce, Job Separation, Tax Planning

I've been a client of Cambridge Cape Cod Advisors for 24 years, since a peer introduced me to Greg early in my career. At the time, I was married with very young daughters, my husband had his own small business, and I was just starting to earn bonuses in stock — on top of a 401K match and other company programs I wasn't sure how to navigate, or how to handle come tax time for my husband, his business, and myself.

Not long after, my job was eliminated during changes at the tech company I worked for, and I had to take a position that paid less. As I was the main provider for my family, Greg helped me make the most of what I had, figuring out what and where to invest, including saving for my daughters' education — which really helped when they attended college. He helped us build a foundation and a plan for the future, with a will included.

From there, the transitions kept coming. My company was acquired by a major player in tech, and I found myself in a new role with growth opportunity, with Greg helping me through the shift in company benefits. Through it all, our relationship grew alongside the planning — each year at my portfolio review, I got to know Greg and Anna a little better, usually starting with how the kids and their sports seasons were going.

My husband and I didn't agree on many things, but we did agree that having Greg guide us and handle our taxes was the best decision we made — even the year we were audited, when Greg stayed with us every step of the way and it turned out better than expected. Eventually we divorced, and Greg connected me with a reliable resource to represent me. Rebuilding my portfolio and executing the divorce decree afterward was its own transition, and Greg and Anna helped facilitate it.

Most recently, the company I had grown with for years went through a massive round of layoffs, and I was impacted. Greg advised me through that job separation and helped me adjust course with retirement planning. I've since found my way into something new that feels like the right next chapter.

Looking back, I'm thankful for the confidence and peace of mind I've had working with Greg, then and now. My advice to anyone facing a similar transition: don't hesitate, start early, talk about your goals, and follow the plan — rebuilding takes time, but with consistency and patience, it happens quicker than you'd think.

Early Career, Retirement Planning, Tax Planning

I've been a client of Cambridge Cape Cod Advisors since 2009, when a peer referred me to Greg. I met him in person for the first time at one of Cambridge Cape Cod Advisors' fun client events. At the time, I was moving up in my career and preparing for retirement. I realized I needed some solid advice and guidance on my 401k account, and that's exactly what I found. In the years since, that guidance has evolved with me. Greg has helped grow our portfolio from those early days all the way through today.

As my career advanced, he helped me navigate the financial decisions that came with it, and made everything easy to understand along the way, explained in simple terms, not high finance speak. Today, my wife and I are working with Greg on estate planning for our son and the rest of our family, so we can properly plan for the expected and make sure everyone is taken care of. It's the same trust that's carried the relationship from the very beginning — I trust Greg to know exactly what I need and when I need it, and I trust him to rebalance our portfolio when it's time. I'll admit, now and then I'll check in on my accounts just to see how one of the investments Greg recommended is doing — even though afterward, I'll realize I didn't need to.

Tax planning, in particular, has been one of the biggest benefits of working with him — from the very first time we met, it became simple, one less thing to worry about. Whether it's a scheduled meeting, a quick call, or me just stopping by, the level of service has never wavered — and honestly, I still stop by the office sometimes just to say hello to Anna and Greg when I'm in the area. I've referred others to Cambridge Cape Cod Advisors, and I'd recommend them to anyone.

B & D

Inheritance, Retirement Planning, Tax Planning

We've been clients of Cambridge Cape Cod Advisors since 2014. We found our way to Greg through a mutual friend, whose family had worked with him for years. We were in a position in our lives where we began really planning for the future and we surmised we may be inheriting from our parents and grandparents and needed a roadmap for our current position and ultimately retirement. Our friend's referral led us straight to Greg.

At the time, we'd been with a broker-dealer model that always felt like it was trying to sell us something. What we wanted instead was real financial guidance — and that's exactly what we found. Greg simplified the whole process: where to put our money, how to manage it for the future, and a long-term plan that could absorb the day-to-day bumps in the road without throwing everything off course.

We had already prepared our estate planning; and Greg helped us design a roadmap we could comfortably follow on a day-to-day basis but also with planning for the future knowing we may be in line for an inheritance.  When the inheritance came through, we gave a portion of the proceeds to Greg to invest. Later, after my mother passed, we sold her house — and between the appraisal we had previously obtained and the planning Greg had already helped us put in place; coupled with Greg’s referral to a trust tax accountant, we ended up with a tax credit for future use. It all worked out better than we could have expected.

Over more than a decade, what's stood out most is how responsive they are at Cambridge Cape Cod Advisors, and how much Greg has genuinely invested in getting to know us — it puts us at ease. He's pragmatic in a way that's consoling, and it gives us real confidence in our decisions. Now that we're not working, that shows up in the day-to-day: Greg wants us to enjoy retirement, not just get through it. He models out different scenarios for us so we can feel comfortable saying yes to travel and the things we want to do, instead of second-guessing ourselves.
If you're weighing whether to get help with a similar transition, our advice is simple: Greg simplifies things. He's pragmatic, and that's what gives you the confidence to move forward.

Loss of Spouse, Retirement Planning, Tax Planning

I've been a client of Cambridge Cape Cod Advisors for more than twenty years. My husband John found Greg when he was getting ready to retire and was about to receive a lump-sum payment — John did his research, met with Greg, and was impressed right away.

When John died suddenly, I was in shock. I had no idea what needed to be done. I gave Greg and Anna the death certificate, and they took care of everything — they made it simple and seamless. I don't know what I'd do without them. I consider them my friends.

In the years since, Greg has continued to manage our trust and my IRA, and he makes even taxes simple and easy — there's no need to panic. Looking back on more than two decades with the team, the word that comes to mind is fantastic. They're great people — very kind, and so in tune and compatible with each other. They know their business and what they're doing, and I have every confidence in them managing my estate and finances.

If you're going through something similar, I can tell you: they do the best for you, and you won't be disappointed. It's so seamless, it's almost boring — and I mean that as the highest compliment. I love stopping by the office and having coffee with them when I visit.

Rob & Terri L.

Early Career, Retirement Planning, Tax Planning

We were Greg's first clients, and are grateful that he and Rob met 29 years ago. Greg was selling a used refrigerator, and we needed one for our first real estate property. With Greg's help, we've grown our financial portfolio, provided for ourselves and our two children, and successfully navigated financial uncertainty while making the best decisions for our family. With Greg and Anna's support, we've also ensured a comfortable future with our retirement, and eliminated debt along the way. We'd recommend Greg to anyone looking to secure a better financial future for themselves and their family.

Career Change, Retirement Planning, Tax Planning

I've been a client of Cambridge Cape Cod Advisors since 2015. I'd been with my previous advisor for years, and when he passed away, Greg took over as his successor. At the time, I was married with two daughters in college, working in underwriting in the insurance industry. In 2020, I decided to leave that security behind to join a nonprofit in New Hampshire — work that let me give back and help children and families.

That was the hardest part, financially and emotionally: trading a secure income for something that mattered more to me. Greg managed my finances and gave me direction all along the way, so I felt comfortable making the change. Through every market swing and economic shift since, he's stayed calm and consistent, always focused on stability and long-term value — and I always knew it would work out.

After a career change, I worked at a nonprofit for four years and retired from it in 2024, then went back into the insurance industry to run commercial sales — an encore career, not a full stop. Through all of it, there's been a sense of consistent, stable advice that's given me real comfort making financial decisions, without the burden of worrying about the outlook. My family and I feel comfortable that I could retire whenever the time is right. Now we're looking ahead to my wife's retirement in a couple of years, and to Greg's guidance with Social Security timing and next steps.

I'd encourage anyone in a similar situation to reach out. Greg gives responsive, well-informed advice based on real experience, and he's put a plan in place that fits our risk tolerance and what's happening in the market. Anna and Greg are always responsive, the professionalism is great, and he's always met our needs. And I can't say enough about the tax planning — it's one of the things I appreciate most. We enjoy the relationship.
